“Don’t look down the opportunity of studying” Dr. Gashumba advised students of TVET Nyabihu and Rwanda Coding Academy

Nyabihu: while visiting Nyabihu TVET School and Rwanda Coding Academy students on this 13rd February 2019, the Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James Gashumba urged students of both schools not to look down the opportunity of being educated.

 Before visiting TVET Nyabihu and Rwanda Coding Academy students, Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James Gashumba and his delegation met with Mukandayisenga Antoinette, mayor of Nyabihu district and discussed about the upcoming launch of Rwanda Coding Academy scheduled to take place in February 2019 at Nyabihu district.

 Addressing to the students of TVET Nyabihu, the vice chancellor told them that the government of Rwanda strives for providing a quality education that complies with applicable standards through vocational education that enables beneficiary to acquire skills required to create jobs and compete in labor market.

 He added that in developing countries, people who are rich, have good houses and cars are the one who attended the TVET Schools, and told them that TVET must be the only way which can help them to get to richness and build a new Rwanda.

Spoken to the new students of Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA) particularly, Dr. James Gashumba told the students that the school came as a special model school incepted by Government of Rwanda through its partnership institutions; Ministry of Education, Ministry of ICT & Innovation, Rwanda Information Society Authority, Rwanda Education Board, Workforce development Authority and Rwanda Polytechnic.

He reminded that as the first students need to be good example and reminded them that are the one who will play a paramount role in building a new Rwanda. The vice chancellor, Dr. Gashumba requested them to work hard to make their dreams come through and aspirations in life.

“You need to work hard and open the doors of richness, and contributing in building the new Rwanda. Dr. Gashumba explained.

Nyabihu TVET school has 5 workshops namely: Leather Craft, Welding, Textile, Culinary Arts and Food processing.

Rwanda coding academy’s mission is to train young talented and gifted Rwandans in software programing, promote quality and excellence in coding skills and to position Rwanda as software development talent hub.

 Nyabihu TVET opened class activities since 2018 while Rwanda Coding Academy received its first students on 4th February 2019 starting with 60 students and both schools are not yet being officially inaugurated.
