239 technicians certified through Recognition of Prior Learning in Auto-Mechanic

Kigali January ,23rd 2019 Rwanda Polytechnic and SDC through Swiss contact organized the graduation ceremony of 239 technicians operating in various garages in Kigali, who were assessed through Recognition of Prior Learning in Auto-Mechanic Technology on this 23rd January2019.

 The Vice Chancellor of Rwanda Polytechnic Dr. James Gashumba gave his heartleaf thanks to Suiss contact, assessors and Rwanda Association des Garages for assessing these 239 technicians.

He said that the government of Rwanda has done a lots in increasing the number of Rwandans who attend TVET Schools.  He added that rich people in developed countries who have good houses and cars are those ones who attended TVET schools, and told them that TVET must be the only way which can help them to get to richness and build a new Rwanda we want.

Moreover, Dr. James Gashumba requested graduants to drive away the negative perception about TVET Schools and urged them to be agents of change in society. He also told them that the program of Recognition of Prior Learning has aimed at making workers more competent and truthful, and able to look for a jobs at the international level.

He expressed that there is a plot of implementing a program of 70% in companies and the remaining 30% has to take place in the school.

Rosine MUTATSINEZA one of the graduants thanked the government of Rwanda for giving equal chance to girls and boys to attend school and said that the knowledge acquired will help her to satisfy her needs and take part in the development of the country.

Graduates were awarded a formal qualification equivalent to the RTQF-Level 3 in the 5 trades namely: Engine works performing, Transmission and Control System Repairing, Car Body Works Performing, Tire Service Performing and Car Glass Services and Electricity and Electronic Systems Repairing.
